The 5 pieces of a fully integrated HR system

HR | FMLA | HRIS | Payroll | TLM | Obamacare Reporting

All properly integrated Human Resource Management System have five main parts that make up a greater and more powerful system, just like how it takes five robot lions to form Voltron Defender of the Universe. These pieces are Payroll, Time and Labor Management, Affordable Care Act Reporting, FMLA Administration, and Benefit Enrollment.

Arguably the most important function of a personnel manager, depending on whom you ask, is payroll. Payroll communicates with TLM (Time and Labor Management) to pull scheduling and accruals information to generate accurate pay information. Keeping an accurate account of an employee’s time works with FMLA administration to help determine if an employee is eligible for leave. Payroll will also communicate with the ACA (Affordable Care Act) reporting system to help calculate if a person makes enough money to count their benefits as an affordable offering.

The beautiful thing about an integrated system is that when an HR professional puts information into the system for payroll, or anyother module, it will automatically update all the other systems because all the modules are housed in the same space.

Another example of this is during benefits enrollment. When an employee elects a benefit plan the integrated system sends a signal to the payroll module. The deduction for the employee’s contribution will be taken from their paycheck automatically.

These efficiencies will help your company organize information and keep HR running smoothly. Even if we aren’t a team of robot lions fighting to protect the planet Arus, I think our jobs are still pretty important.
